JOB SUMMARY:
The Supervising/Collaborating Physician is responsible for providing primary care oversight for the care delivered by the nurse practitioner(s) at the Wingspan Care Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Provide collaboration and medical advice/guidance to the nurse practitioner(s).
  2. Function to comply with state medical and nursing regulatory boards through standard of care agreements.
  3. Review and audit clinical charts for quality assurance and regulatory compliances.
  4. Approve and sign standing orders for licensed nurses if needed per state law.
  5. Conduct physical assessments, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose and treat common conditions, provide screenings, interventions, and counseling, and prescribe medications as needed to patients.
  6. Conduct patient medical history and make appropriate assessments, evaluations, and interventions based on the patient’s demographic information.

OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications, and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  4. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  5. Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree.
  2. Licensure: Must have an active state medical license in Ohio.
  3. Competency/Skills:

  • Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and cognate sciences and their application in patient care.
  • Practice-Based Learning and Improvement: Able to investigate and evaluate their patient care practices, appraise and assimilate scientific evidence, and improve their practice of medicine.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate skills that result in effective information exchange and teaming with patients, their families, and professional associates (e.g., fostering a therapeutic relationship that is ethically sound, uses effective listening skills with nonverbal and verbal communication; working as both a team member and at times as a leader).
  • Systems-Based Practice: Demonstrate awareness of and responsibility to larger context and systems of healthcare. Be able to call on system resources to provide optimal care.
  1. Experience: Experience in family medicine or internal medicine with previous experience in pediatrics.
